What is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy:
-
It involves a trained counsellor listening to and helping you find ways to deal with challenging emotional issues.
-
It is an opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings and to better understand how they impact mood, behaviours, and relationships.
-
It offers a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to talk through whatever troubles or worries you have, with a qualified and experienced youth counsellor.
-
Counselling sessions take place weekly at the same time and place and with the same counsellor.

Counselling can help by:
-
Giving you a better understanding of issues with relationships, sexuality, stress, anxiety, and much more.
-
Equipping you with strategies and tools to better tackle new experiences or challenges.
-
Working towards an understanding of why you feel the way you feel.
-
Supporting you in learning how to manage challenging feelings and situations in an emotionally healthy way.
Parent and Carer Consultations
Oak Tree Counselling offers parent and carer consultations, either as a one-off or as a series of sessions with a frequency that works alongside the issues being supported.
These sessions are an opportunity for you to think together with a counsellor about what it is like to support your young person, problems that occur at home and challenges in your lives generally. There is then space to work out together what may create positive changes.
These sessions are primarily for parents or carers only, but we can arrange for another counsellor to offer counselling sessions to your young person separately. If at any stage in the process it feels like it may be helpful for the young person to join with you for a session then we can arrange this.
The sessions are 50-minutes long and cost £65. You can book sessions as you go along or map out the whole series together at the start and agree dates and times.
Please note that we are not a crisis service.
